Vice President, Quantitative Development - Asset Management Technology (AMT)
The Role
Asset Management Technology (AMT) provides technology solutions and support to all the Investment Management, Research, Trading, and Investment Operations functions globally. We are seeking a\u00A0Vice President, Quantitative Development\u00A0to join our Quantitative Research & Investing Technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for\u00A0the technical design and development of\u00A0Fidelity s next generation\u00A0Multi-Asset Class Risk Platform.\u00A0 This platform supports ex-ante risk, VaR, attribution, stress testing and scenario analysis across all asset classes, and is used by investment professionals across Fidelity for risk management, portfolio construction, and alpha research.\u00A0\u00A0
The ideal candidate will both have the technology expertise\u00A0to optimize run-time performance, scalability, and robustness of the platform as well as possess strong leadership and people management skills to effectively manage a small team of senior developers.\u00A0\u00A0
In addition to being responsible for the technical design and the management of the end-to-end systems development lifecycle of the platform, a key component of this role is communicating with portfolio and risk managers across the firm to ensure the platform can be optimally used as part of the investment decision making process. The successful evolution of the platform will require balancing long term strategic enhancements with tactical improvements required by the business.
- System Development & Architecture:\u00A0Lead the architecture and development of robust, scalable systems for investment risk and portfolio analytics, with a focus on multi-asset class risk modeling, performance attribution, and optimization.
- Team Management & Mentorship:\u00A0Lead, mentor, and build a team of talented quant developers, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment. Provide technical leadership and guidance in all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Technical Leadership:\u00A0Provide technical leadership in building scalable, high-performance systems that handle large volumes of data, ensuring the systems can support complex risk models at scale.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with senior leaders in Asset Management Technology (AMT) and business stakeholders to design and implement sophisticated quantitative risk and portfolio analytics systems that support decision-making processes in asset management.\u00A0 Translate business requirements into scalable, high-performance technical solutions.
- Technology and Innovation:\u00A0Lead the adoption of modern software engineering practices, including\u00A0CI/CD,\u00A0containerization (Docker),\u00A0serverless architectures, and\u00A0cloud technologies\u00A0to enhance development and operational efficiency.
- Quantitative Risk & Performance Systems: Work with business partners to design and implement sophisticated quantitative risk and portfolio analytics systems that support decision-making processes in asset management.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Industry Experience:\u00A010+ years of experience in software development, quantitative development, or financial technology, with a strong focus on investment risk systems in buy-side asset management firms.
- Quantitative Risk Models:\u00A0Strong knowledge of risk modeling,\u00A0including\u00A0factor-based risk models,\u00A0scenario analysis, stress testing, and factor attribution.
- Programming & Data Handling:
- Proficiency in\u00A0Python\u00A0(especially libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Dash) for building data-driven applications.
- Familiarity with\u00A0C++\u00A0for performance-critical systems.
- Experience with containerization (Docker), serverless computing, and API management.
- Familiarity with\u00A0front-end technologies\u00A0like HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, and Angular.
- Experience with\u00A0CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and test-driven development.
- Proficiency with\u00A0data pipeline engineering, ETL processes, and working with\u00A0big data technologies\u00A0for processing large datasets efficiently.
- Strong experience with performance at scale, parallel computing, and high-performance computing.
- Proficient in system architecture and design
- Leadership & Mentorship:\u00A0Proven ability to lead and mentor teams of quantitative developers, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement in risk and software development practices.
- Executive Communication Ability to communicate based on the partners from concise information to precise details based on the audience.
- Educational Background:\u00A0Bachelor s or higher degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
