Position Summary:
The Vice President of People, Culture, and Development will lead strategic initiatives to attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering an inclusive, mission-driven organizational culture. This role will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of human resources functions, including talent acquisition, learning and development, employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and organizational effectiveness. The VP will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and a champion for the YMCA's values, ensuring alignment with our mission and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive people and culture strategies that align with the YMCA's mission and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to foster an environment that prioritizes employee engagement, DEI, and professional growth.
Talent Management
- Oversee the end-to-end talent lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and retention strategies.
- Lead initiatives to attract diverse, mission-aligned talent.
Culture and Engagement
- Design and implement programs that promote an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
- Develop and lead employee engagement initiatives, leveraging feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Learning and Development
- Establish and oversee learning and development programs to support professional growth and leadership development.
- Create pathways for career progression and skill enhancement for all employees.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Champion DEI initiatives to build an equitable and inclusive organizational culture.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to implement impactful DEI strategies.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, YMCA policies, and best practices.
- Manage HR metrics and analytics to inform strategic decisions and measure the effectiveness of people strategies.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in human resources, with a focus on culture, talent development, and DEI.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic HR initiatives.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels of the organization.
- Expertise in DEI practices and principles.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in HR technologies and data analytics.
