We're seeking an innovative and driven Vice President of Retail to lead the charge in managing our diverse global retail operations, including over 100 specialty stores. This role is pivotal in spearheading our reenergized brand strategy, aimed at introducing new customers to the world of leathercrafting and enhancing our store experiences to create high-service, engaging environments. Our retail stores are the heart of our competitive edge, essential for our continued growth and success.
As the Vice President of Retail, you'll play a key role in leveraging this competitive advantage. We have reimagined our Retail team, evolving roles and responsibilities to elevate the level of professionalism through comprehensive training, mentoring, and development programs. Your leadership will be instrumental in guiding our retail division through significant changes, aligning with our vision to significantly enhance our consumer proposition.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Full P&L responsibility across all retail locations, including detailed planning to maximize sales, profitability, and performance improvement for each store.
Collaborative Planning: Partner with the Executive Leadership Team to make strategic decisions on real estate, talent development, and executing external recruiting strategies.
Training and Development: Enhance retail training programs covering product knowledge, customer service, sales, and people management.
Operational Excellence: Establish new retail standards for operational areas including housekeeping, labor management, customer experience, and inventory management.
Marketing and Merchandising: Collaborate with Marketing and Product Management teams to develop and implement visual merchandising standards and store upgrades that align with brand messaging and digital consistency.
Community and Military Initiatives: Lead and expand community outreach and military initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall brand objectives.
Talent Management: Recruit, develop, and retain top retail talent, fostering a culture of growth and opportunity within the Retail Division.
Travel Expectations
Travel requirement: Over 50%, including international travel to Canada.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience: Minimum of 10 years in direct retail management, with a preference for specialty retail. Experience managing multiple stores is essential.
Financial Acumen: Direct P&L management experience for at least 3-5 years, with strong financial and analytical skills.
Change Management: Proven track record in leading a large retail organization through significant changes.
Leadership Qualities: Recognized for integrity, fairness, open-mindedness, and respect for all team members.
Collaboration: Highly collaborative with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a bias towards action supported by logical analysis.
