We are seeking a Vice President of Relational Donor Engagement to join our development team. As a vice president of Relational Donor Engagement, you will play an essential role in overseeing the engagement of donors and organizations that require in-person engagement, including but not limited to principal and major donors across all gift officer portfolios. What you'll do:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with donors on behalf of and in conjunction with the Chief Development Officer and effectively represent the Chief Development Officer in meetings with various donors and prospective constituencies.
- Set and manage strategies designed to cultivate, solicit, and steward churches and donors with the ability to make gifts at the principal and major gifts level and who have an affinity for Buckner ministries and programs.
- Provide direction and supervision to direct reports.
- Intentionally steward existing donor relationships to greater Buckner support and involvement.
- Manage a portfolio of Major Gift donors and donor prospects as appropriate.
- Make qualification calls to individuals, corporations, government entities, churches, and others for the purpose of cultivating relationships that lead to donations to Buckner ministries.
- Work with the Chief Development Officer to direct specific assigned campaigns, managing the campaign engagement of staff and volunteers.
- Serve as a member of the Development Senior Leads Team and provide overall leadership and insight for the Development office and core processes as directed by the Chief Development Officer.
- Collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, build strong and sustainable working relationships, and interact within all levels of the organization.
- Travel domestically and internationally for the purpose of prospective and donor relationship cultivation and giving, as needed.
What you'll bring:
- In-depth understanding of project and program management. Functional expertise and a proven track record for providing program management and/or business strategy.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study. Master's degree in management and/or project development preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years prior related experience.
- Prior related experience working with necessary parties to develop and refine content for cases necessary to support solicitations.
- Proficient working knowledge of donor development, fundraising, and public relations laws and regulations governing agencies and employees.
- In-depth ability to plan, administer, and report budgets.
- Excellent stakeholder management, including strong knowledge and partnering ability with all business functions.
- Ability to travel to various geographic locations, both domestic and international, with some overnight stays. Requires ability to obtain and maintain the necessary documentation to travel internationally.
- Ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with an appropriate state license, following all applicable laws; must provide proof of liability insurance and be eligible to be insured under Buckner's insurance policy.
- Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
- Ability to walk frequently; occasionally stand for prolonged periods of time; occasionally required to squat, climb stairs, kneel, and twist. Required to sit for prolonged periods of time, including extensive airline travel.
