SUMMARY
The Vice President of Origination Sales is a self-starter who provides leadership in the organization and is ac-countable for business development and sales effort. This role will bring solutions to our clients across the solar market. This position will be responsible for building and managing an opportunity pipeline, conducting training, performing customer presentations, as well as maintaining/expanding ongoing relations with existing contacts, and meeting with key client personnel and decision makers. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of negotiating Power Purchase Agreements as either an off-taker or developer and possess existing relationships at the executive level within customer organizations. This position reports to the Head of Utility Solution Sales, or another management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. This position reports to the Irvine, CA office but will maintain a hybrid schedule of working out of their home office and the Irvine, CA office. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours may be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 50%.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads strategies to obtain new utility-scale solar EPC business, in collaboration with the Development arm of the Qcells USA Corp.
- Builds relationships with origination, trading, or procurement desks within utility companies, municipalities, cooperatives, power marketers, investment banks, and corporate off-takers.
- Identifies new opportunities via competitive and bilateral offtake as well as build-transfer opportunities for the Company.
- Devise and execute a strategy regarding leveraging relationships with off-takers to bring in new EPC opportunities from developers.
- Tracks and supports key project initiatives within specified target accounts.
- Possesses and cultivates long-term relationships with key management personnel within the customer organization, spanning across procurement, engineering, process controls, operations, and the like.
- Develops and executes strategic account plans to ensure business goals are achieved.
- Develops effective differentiators and negotiation strategies and understands all key commercial and legal issues.
- Reports annual business plan and market evaluation, a monthly report on revenue and margins, actions completed, look ahead travel, and action plans.
- Analyzes market trends, customer insights, and sales data to inform the sales strategy.
- Manages the pipeline in conjunction with the Company’s resource availability to monitor sales performance and adjust plans as needed to ensure achievement of the annual sales goal
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Work experience at big tech companies such as Apple, Meta, Amazon, and Google is required; experience in negotiating PPAs is highly preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a business, sustainability or finance related fields
- 15+ years of sales or negotiating agreements in the EPC and/or development, off-take field.
- Proficient knowledge of project development, engineering, procurement, and construction processes/procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of North American utility-scale solar markets, power markets, and customers, and segments (incl. within CCAs, IPPs, IOUs, Commercial & Industrial companies, Cooperatives, Municipalities, and Government Agencies
- Extraordinary business judgment and ability to assess impact of decisions on overall business performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
