- Starting pay of $200,000 - $225,000 per year depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for strategic planning, execution and oversight of the whole business in a highly collaborative culture. This position is specifically responsible for overseeing community outreach, community giving, business development and all aspects of marketing and community relations, including growth initiatives, campaigns, strategic relationships, addressing major issues, setting annual objectives and providing direction in a manner consistent with the Credit Unions strategic objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) by actively participating in SLT meetings, mentoring and holding peers and staff responsible for all areas that impact the strategic plan, as well as contributes to high-quality member service, growth, and profitability of Monterra Credit Union.
- Participates in developing Monterra Credit Union’s Strategic Plan, annual business plan (“Bold Steps”) and budget. Works with cross-functional teams to carry out strategic initiatives collaboratively.
- Owns and executes strategies to increase membership acquisition, retention, and engagement, leveraging data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration to achieve growth targets.
- Oversees Marketing & Community Relations personnel, including coaching and mentoring direct reports, setting semi-annual goals, and conducting semi-annual performance reviews.
- Leads business development initiatives to identify, develop, and maintain strategic partnerships.
- Serves as a voting member of the Asset Liability Management Committee (ALCO), contributing to strategic decision-making on deposit and loan pricing and liquidity and interest rate risk management.
- Oversees public relations efforts, including drafting and distributing press releases, building and maintaining strong relationships with media partners, and ensuring consistent and positive coverage of the credit union’s initiatives and achievements.
- Represents the credit union at community functions and events, serving as the primary spokesperson to promote the organization’s mission, strengthen community relationships, and enhance public awareness.
- Directs the design and delivery of programs and resources to educate members and the community on financial literacy and best practices.
- Manages and oversees the credit union’s philanthropic efforts, including charitable donations, sponsorships, and community investment programs, including active participation with the Monterra Community Fund.
- Develops and executes social media strategies to enhance brand awareness, engage with members, and promote the credit union’s values and services.
- Responsible for the communication, relevance, differentiation and market penetration derived from product & service promotions for all appropriate age and cultural groups.
- Responsible for the data collection and target marketing, analysis and comparisons of services, fees and rates of other potential product competitors. Research membership base to determine trends and the potential usage of target marketing.
- Develops annual marketing and community relations plans based on strategic and budget goals, market research, and past performance.
- Establishes and monitors the annual marketing budget to maximize cost-effective operations, programs, and community giving/events. Manages vendor contracts and relationships to obtain preferable pricing, terms, and service levels.
- Develops, maintains, and ensures adherence to brand guidelines across all activities and promotional and educational materials.
- Oversees reporting outcomes on quality of service, member attitudes, and feedback through Net Promoter Score (NPS) for a closed-loop process.
- Reports monthly and as needed on promotional, product, service, membership, and other key performance metrics to support strategic and board reporting.
- Collects competitive research on the services, products, fees, and rates of other banks and credit unions to inform future actions and competitive positioning.
- Attends community relations events.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and laws enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of marketing and community relations
- Ability to plan, organize and effectively run multi-faceted and dynamic marketing and community relations departments of a mid- to large-size financial institution.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to lead, motivate, and supervise employees.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with a diverse group of people including Board Members, senior lenders, staff, vendors and other third parties.
- Excellent creative ability, as well as oral and written communication skills.
- Strong managerial, sales and public relations knowledge.
- Current knowledge of all laws, rules and regulations pertaining to marketing and community relations for a financial institution.
- Thorough knowledge of financial, practices, products and services.
- Ability to analyze problems and opportunities, identify and evaluate alternatives, and develop sound, effective approaches.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate the achievement of goals, objectives, and work plans.
- Strong data analytics capabilities.
- Skilled with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Occasional travel may be expected.
