What Will You Do?
The Vice President of International Sales will direct the International Sales in the Countries listed above. He/She will effectively advise on marketing efforts, contact new prospects to drive new business, develop and nurture relationships with existing customers, and develop a sales team to support the sales and profit objectives of the company. He/She will work directly with all employees in all responsible areas to improve their work environment, productivity, and understanding of the company Massively Transformative Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Core Values. He/She will work with other managers in training, marketing, and merchandising to achieve overall sales goals and commitments.
This individual is expected to create a culture of success to drive sales growth and the strategic objectives of the International Sales division. The Vice President of International Sales holds the significant responsibility of managing the sales team, and resources to deliver profitable growth. Scope
The Vice President of International Sales is responsible and accountable for enhancing the brand, creating alignment and accountability in the sales organization, enhancing sales talent, and executing a competitive sales strategy aimed at market growth domination in international markets.
Primary Job Functions
Senior Leader Responsibilities
- Delegate decision-making authority and task responsibility to employees based on strengths to maximize their job ownership and commitment to outcomes.
- Provide timely guidance and feedback to help others excel so that they become more committed to their jobs and the organization.
- Build and lead an engaged team that is committed to Ashley and its bottom line.
Cultivate a Customer Focused Culture
- Make customer relationships and satisfaction the primary driving force when designing products and processes.
- Embrace the Ashley vision by creating an environment that inspires people to generate innovative ways to increase customer satisfaction when designing products and processes.
- Set high standards and accountability for customer satisfaction in all business activities at Ashley.
Job Specific Responsibilities
- Direct International Marketing Specialists(IMS) to achieve their budgets, while continuing to drive costs down to maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
- Ensure that managers and IMS’s achieve the required daily performance, quality improvement initiatives, and other customer satisfaction measures.
- Build a culture that stops to fix problems, getting quality right the first time and systematically solving root cause problems.
- Challenge current business processes and direct managers to eliminate waste by reducing non-value-added activities. Focus on the value stream and develop a “pull” system throughout the supply chain.
- Work Closely with the Ashley Credit department to ensure Customer Accounts stay current to their terms.Also, evaluate existing terms to determine if recommendations should be made to adjust.
- Work closely with IMS’s and Customers evaluating their supply chains to ensure that product is flowing and a GMROI focus is taken to uphold brand standards on order fulfillment to the end consumer.
- Create a culture of teamwork. Make an ongoing effort to teach individuals how to work together and in teams toward common goals. Use cross-functional teams to improve quality and productivity and ensure flow by solving problems.
- Grow leaders who thoroughly understand the work, live the Ashley Culture, and teach this philosophy to others.
- Work directly with the International Team within to identify problems. Assist them in coming up with solutions that will allow the company to achieve its goals in profit, growth, and customer satisfaction.
- Challenge the International Sales Department to grow their business and develop a continuous improvement mentality. Set challenging targets for each department and assist them in achieving those targets.
- Create a learning organization. Use tools of Lean and Continuous Improvement to train and develop people. Teach others within the company about customer expectations and work together to develop a plan to achieve these expectations.
Enhance the Brand
- Make customer satisfaction the primary focus to enhance Ashley’s recognition in the marketplace.
- Commit to a long-term sales strategy to enhance Ashley’s brand by analyzing information, evaluating options, and selecting the best sales strategy.
- Use insight into market drivers to capitalize on business opportunities that will enhance Ashley’s recognition in the marketplace.
Enhance Sales Talent
- Attract, develop, and retain talented individuals to build a competitively superior sales organization.
- Provide timely guidance and feedback to help sales employees excel on the job and meet key accountabilities.
- Delegate decision-making authority and task responsibility to help sales employees realize their highest potential at Ashley.
- Create Alignment and Accountability in the Sales Organization
- Commit to a long-term strategy for increasing alignment and accountability at Ashley by analyzing information, evaluating options, and selecting the best sales strategy.
- Align communication, people, culture, and processes to drive flawless execution of Ashley’s objectives.
- Delegate decision-making authority and task responsibilities to ensure flawless execution of Ashley’s strategies.
Execute Competitive Sales Strategy
- Use insight into market drivers to execute a competitive sales strategy that will create new business opportunities.
- Execute a competitive sales strategy for Ashley by aligning communication, people, culture, and processes.
- Leverage business knowledge and experience to drive sales strategies that will gain a competitive advantage.
Secondary Job Functions
- Support any additional tasks and projects as assigned by leadership.
- Maintain reliable attendance.
- Actively participate in departmental meetings, training, and education. Assist with training other employees and provide backup as needed.
Schedule Expectations
- Flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
- Frequent travel required.
Job Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience in sales leadership, account management, or a similar role within the retail or furniture industry, with a strong emphasis on international markets. Proven track record of driving customer engagement, product adoption, and achieving sales goals.
- Knowledge and Understanding
- Familiarity with the customer base, cultures, and Ability to mine growth opportunities and build or have relationships with Furniture Retailers in the aforementioned countries.
- Skills
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. Proficiency in CRM tools and sales software. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong financial literacy with experience in budget management and financial reporting.
