Position Summary
Responsible for organizational development, policies, programs and processes covering the GBS Corp and related companies' employee lifecycle while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws. The VP of Human Resources is a support member of the executive management team providing strategic and tactical development and the deployment of the objectives established.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manages members of the Human Resource team.
- Recruits, hires, train and measure performance of HR team
- Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Foster a workplace environment consistent with GBS's ICARE values and mission outlined by the leadership of the organization. Assist senior management with GBS's culture and processes to ensure that all employees are given the opportunity to contribute to the business goals of the company.
- Act as senior level advisor on human resources issues to the Executive Management Team. Serve as internal consultant to the GBS management team(s) and employees on personnel issues that affect performance and business relationships.
- Work with Executive and Sr. Management to define the human resources goals and objectives and with strategic and tactical management planning.
- Lead the Human Resource department in providing excellent service to the employees of GBS and affiliates.
- Provide leadership, support for management, and development of the HR team in areas of Employee Training and Development, Performance Management systems, Staff Recruitment, and other strategic objectives as defined by senior leadership.
- Continuously develop and implement, enhance and retain the elements of the GBS Employee Lifecycle process and its objectives.
- Responsible for advising management to ensure company compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to employee benefits, compensation, employment and training. Remain current with changes in human resource and employment law and manage company relationships with state and local regulatory agencies.
- Oversee employee benefit programs including health plans, tuition reimbursement, life and long-term disability programs. Serve as a GBS ESOP Trustee, benefit plan administrator and fiduciary related to company programs.
- Oversee the processing of a bi-weekly multi-state payroll through our full-service third-party payroll provider. Work with the designated HR team member to handle payroll tax correspondence.
- Provide overall direction to the HR team in regards to organizational development, employee relations and communications, salary benchmarking, benefits, and HRIS.
- Oversee the Wellness program to ensure that all GBS facilities provide a safe and secure working environment.
- Maintain compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) standards as well as Worker's Compensation programs and standards.

- Ability to use PC and widely used software packages, e.g., spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (MS Word), HRIS/database.
- Ability to learn new software packages as necessary.
- Travel to GBS locations in Stow, Fairlawn, Youngstown, Malvern, North Canton and other sales offices including infrequent overnight business travel.
Education and Experience:
- 10 + years of broad-based HR experience, six of which must be at the management level.
- Prior experience in any of the following: Recruitment, Training and Development, Performance Management Systems will be given additional weight in the hiring process.
- SHRM certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
