Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Vice President, General Manager (VP) is an exempt position whose primary responsibility is the financial success of the Club through the ongoing creation and/or development of staff, programs, services, and facilities. The VP, General Manager provides senior leadership to the management team and all Associates to ensure that member needs are met and that the experience we deliver surpasses expectations. The VP, General Manager will be required on a daily basis to exercise discretion and independent judgment in ensuring that the Club is successful and that Associates are adequately developed.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

Employee Management

1. Hires, trains, supervises, develops, and terminates the employment of those supervised in accordance with company policies and directives.
2. Performs timely performance evaluations on Associates.
3. Compiles comprehensive reports regarding performance of Associates.
4. Responsible for implementation of all laws, regulations, and policies regarding employment practices, safety rules, and all other company policies and procedures.
5. Process, review, and submit payroll for those supervised directly by General Manager.

Club Management

1. Daily walk-throughs of Club to ensure staff is maintaining a clean, organized, and safe facility.
2. Develop and implement comprehensive, member-focused operational standards.
3. Act as Club and/or regional Manager on Duty, as required.
4. Oversee day-to-day Club operations run smoothly and efficiently through a visible management presence and leadership.

Financial Accountability

1. Manage financial performance of the Club through achievement of sales and revenue targets, expense management, proper planning and forecasting, and retention.
2. Track, report, and analyze the details of financial operation on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
3. Prepare and implement action plans to meet or exceed monthly financial and membership sales goals.
4. Assist club management in development of annual operating and capital budgets, as well as long-term growth strategy.
5. Review applicable financial statements and reports.
6. Develop and maintain departmental financial goals and incentive plans in coordination with EVP of Operations.

Communication Relationships

1. Effectively and professionally interacts and communicates with senior management, managers, other Associates, vendors, members, senior staff, and guests.
2. Promote harmonious relations among members, staff, vendors, and the community at-large.
3. Communicate timely and follow up, as appropriate.
4. Active participation in required events, programs, meetings, and trainings.
5. Ensure the TBCC mission and club brand is upheld in all aspects of club operations.
6. Represent the club in a professional manner through image, dress, communication, and immediate follow-through and response.

Corporate Goals Objectives

1. Promote the company's safety goals and actively work towards ensuring a safe working environment.
2. Interpret and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
3. Actively further Club objectives and continuously support improvement and positive change, which includes participating on corporate designated committees to improve the company and business operations.
4. Make professional development a consistent priority.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Flexibility in work schedule, as job may require day and evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE

1. Policies and Regulations - Knowledge of company policies, federal, state, and local laws, government regulations, and agency rules that pertain to property managed.
2. Management of Personnel Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for legally identifying the best people for the job, hiring, motivating, developing, and directing people as they work.
3. Management of Financial Resources - Basic knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices for creating a realistic budget, banking, understanding financial reports, and the ability to use mathematics to solve problems.
4. Sales and Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, and sales techniques.
5. Problem Anticipation/Deductive Reasoning - Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and then apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
6. Written Comprehension and Expression - Ability to read, understand, and communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
7. Oral Comprehension and Expression - Ability to understand and communicate so others can understand ideas and information.
8. Computer - Ability to develop and maintain computer records in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software required by TBCC and regulatory agencies.

EXPERIENCE EDUCATION

1. Minimum of 5 years prior club or hospitality management experience.
2. At least 5 years' experience in personnel supervision, training, and evaluation.
3. Demonstrated experience in problem identification, analysis, recommendation of options, and development of logical and workable solutions.
4. Demonstrated experience in preparing and completing administrative statistical and programmatic studies with comprehensive analysis and sound recommendations.
5. Demonstrated ability to support and develop a diverse environment.
6. Bachelor's degree preferred.

1. This position deals with outside personnel such as members and clients on a regular basis with contact in various forms such as in person, phone, and email.
2. The location of the position changes frequently from indoors to outdoors as property extends to both environments. However, extreme environmental conditions do not exist.
3. It is sometimes necessary to deal with unpleasant or angry people with the need to problem-solve difficult situations.
4. It is necessary to adapt to a frequently changing environment.
5. Sitting and standing is as needed.
6. Requires occasional physical exertion such as bending, twisting, sitting, stooping, and use of hands and fingers.
7. It is necessary for the position to travel independently to property locations on a minimal basis.
