Role Overview:
As a key member of the Chancellor's Cabinet, the Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Excellence and Belonging will lead our efforts to foster an inclusive academic and work environment. This pivotal role involves developing strategies and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the university. As the Chief Diversity Officer, you will collaborate with senior leadership to integrate DEI best practices throughout our institution's culture and operations.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to enhance inclusivity and ensure all community members feel valued and respected.
Work closely with the Chancellor and other Cabinet members to align DEI efforts with the university's strategic goals.
Engage with various stakeholders within and outside the university to champion DEI initiatives.
Oversee the measurement and reporting of progress in diversity and inclusion efforts using data-driven approaches.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in a relevant field from an accredited university.
Minimum of 7 years of senior leadership experience in higher education with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Demonstrated experience in policy development and administration related to DEI.
Strong project management, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
Excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to manage sensitive political situations.
Ability to work effectively in a unionized setting and manage complex budgets.
