Job Description:
As a Lead Technician at Connecticut Veterinary Center, you will be tasked with overseeing the Technician team, ensuring efficient clinic operations, and providing advanced technical support while also supervising and training Technicians as needed. Your responsibilities will include:
Team Collaboration:
- Lead and coordinate the technician team to provide comprehensive care.
- Provide training and supervision to tech assistants and certified techs as needed.
- Collaborate closely with certified techs and assistants, delegate tasks and demonstrate proficiency in all tech duties. (Certified Technician and Assistant duties)
- Participate in team meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment plans.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues.
Patient Care:
- Provide compassionate care to animals, ensuring their well-being and comfort.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Monitor and record vital signs during examinations and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation and cleanup of surgical procedures.
- Handle diagnostic tests, including blood draws and X-rays, with precision.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and aseptic techniques.
Client Communication:
- Interact with pet owners professionally and empathetically.
- Educate clients on post-treatment care, medication administration, and preventive measures.
- Answer client inquiries regarding their pets' conditions and procedures.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories and treatment plans.
- Document observations and changes in patients' conditions.
- Assist in the organization and management of medical records.
Client Education
- Provide in-depth education to pet owners about chronic conditions, nutrition, and preventive care.
- Offer guidance on managing pets' health and well-being.
Quality Assurance and Specialized Procedures
- Contribute to the maintenance of high-quality patient care and safety standards.
- Participate in quality control procedures and initiatives.
- Perform specialized medical procedures, such as dental cleanings or radiography, based on certification and experience.
- Be prepared to assist during emergency situations, including trauma cases or critical care.
Qualifications:
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in a veterinary technician role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and client interaction abilities.
- Proficiency in medical recordkeeping and digital media tools.
- Commitment to continuing education and professional growth.
