Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support:
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries.
- Perform routine tasks such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, administering medications, and monitoring anesthesia.
Patient Care:
- Provide compassionate care to animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising as needed. Monitor and document patient behavior, symptoms, and responses to treatments.
- Diagnostic and Laboratory Duties: Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests including blood work, urinalysis, and radiographs.
- Prepare and process laboratory samples, and maintain accurate records.
Client Communication:
- Educate pet owners on preventative care, treatment plans, and post-operative care.
- Address client concerns and provide clear instructions for home care.
Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, managing inventory, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the clinic.
Emergency Care:
- Respond to emergency situations with prompt and efficient care.
- Assist in triaging and stabilizing patients in critical condition.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise to Perform Job Successfully
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in a clinical setting.
- Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program, strongly preferred.
- Current and valid Veterinary Technician license in the state of Florida, strongly preferred.
- Proficient in performing medical and surgical procedures, strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, and exceptional technical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy in record-keeping and diagnostics.
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and the ability to handle animals with care and empathy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with emergency and critical care.
- Certification in specialty areas such as anesthesia, dentistry, or internal medicine.
- Proficiency in advanced diagnostic imaging techniques.
