Veterinary Technician - The Downtown Animal Hospital

As an experienced Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians in providing high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of clinical and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the veterinary practice and the well-being of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care

• Assist veterinarians in examinations, surgeries and medical procedures. 
• Perform diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis and radiography.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor and record vital signs during procedures and recovery.
• Provide compassionate care and comfort to hospitalized and recovering animals.

2. Client Communication and Education:

• Communication with pet owners regarding treatment plans, procedures and post-operative care.
• Educate clients on preventive care, nutrition and medication administration.
• Answer client inquiries regarding pet health and behavior, both in person and over the phone.

3. Laboratory and Pharmacy Management:

• Prepare and analyze laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fecal specimens.
• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
• Dispense medications and ensure accurate labeling and dosage.

4. Facility Maintenance and Compliance:

• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of exam rooms, surgical suites, and equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols and infection control procedures. 

Qualifications:

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) OR Minimum of 3 years experience working as a technician.
• Proficiency in performing diagnostic procedures and medical treatments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
