Compensation:
$17 - $19 / hour based on experience

Job Summary: The Pharmacy Technician plays an important role on the medical team and will be expected to uphold all policies and protocols set by Mission Veterinary Partners (“MVP”). The Pharmacy Technician will assist the hospital management team in creating training materials to assure all new team members have the tools they require to be successful at MVP. Pharmacy Technicians will take an active role in their own continuing education assuring their personal and professional development with the assistance of the hospital management team.
Responsibilities:How you'll make an impact:
- Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
- Assist the Veterinarians with all medication/pharmacy requests.
- Maintain documentation in patient records.
- Maintain equipment located within the pharmacy ie; pill counters, computer, safe, refrigerator etc.
- Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy area ie; floors, counters, windows, garbage etc.
- Properly and accurately document controlled drugs in logs; weekly audit of all controlled drugs; assist technicians with reconciliation of drug logs when a discrepancy occurs.
- Create controlled drug logs and distribute to technicians when dispensing controlled medication for use in surgery or lab.
- Prepare prescription medication for clients as prescribed by the Veterinarians, dispense medications to clients explaining all instructions and side effects.
- Check RX call back box for any medication requests.
- Check the fax machine for internet medication requests, fill medication and prescription food requests for clients.
- Accept and answer client questions via telephone and in person when necessary.
- Place special medication orders per Veterinarian’s request, notify client when medication arrives.
- Package and send equipment to be repaired as requested.
- Alert management when medications/supplies are approaching expiration for further instruction on how to dispose of said medications.
- Help to facilitate a smooth client experience by filling requests promptly & exhibiting flexibility for the benefit of the client and patient.
- Weeklyinventory all medication, food, and supplies, this includes physical counts of medication and supplies located in areas of the hospital other than the pharmacy.
- Place orders as necessary; verify/unpack orders received and place in proper locations.
- Enter all new inventory counts and prices into the cornerstone inventory module.
- Review all price increases with management when they are brought to your attention.
- Contact all clients with special order foods or medications.
- Accurately submit all dispensed controlled substances to Michigan Automated Prescription System (MAPS) daily.
- Submit yearly controlled drug count to the state of Michigan.
- Facilitate the quarterly inventory count and submit to MVP accounting.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 1+ Years of prior Veterinary industry experience required.
- Positive, caring, and compassionate nature.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Must be punctual and dependable.
- Must be able to make sound decisions and prioritize tasks.
- Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with all clients and team members.
