About the Job
Community Animal Hospital is a general practice hospital located in Shrewsbury, MA. We offer a wide variety of services such as surgery (general and orthopedics), preventative care, emergency visits, ultrasound, radiology, laboratory testing, dental procedures, and digital dental imaging. We are a 5 doctor practice looking to grow our technical department. We have an immediate opening for a Veterinary Pharmacy Liaison to come join our family. The Pharmacy Liaison is responsible for assisting in the care and treatment of the patients that walk through our doors. This position mostly revolves around the pharmacy, lab and exam rooms. The goal is to act as a director of flow in the pharmacy/exam rooms. This involves assisting exam technicians with their patients in the exam room, filling prescriptions for exam staff as well as refills requested by owners, running in house lab tests and preparing samples to go out to the lab. This person should also work with the less experienced staff to assist in their training of more advanced techniques
Our ideal candidate would:
Oversee the doctor’s schedule and plan accordingly for patients needing additional assistance
Meet with exam room staff in the morning to come up with a plan of action for the day. Including coordinating breaks for staff while maintaining coverage for doctors.
Check prescription voicemail, email and message center often to enter refill requests into the computer
Fill or call in prescription refills requested by owners as well as doctors.
Ensure that the exam staff is around and available when the doctors need them in exam rooms.
Facilitate in house lab tests being run and logged as well as preparing lab samples to go out to the reference lab.
Assist exam room staff with patient procedures in the exam room to avoid having to bring patients to the treatment area.
Work one on one with exam staff to train more advanced techniques, or help restrain to provide the opportunity for less experienced staff to get more practice.

The schedule for this position includes some nights and/or weekend hours.
