Job Summary:
The Hospital Manager is in charge of the day-to-day operations for the entire clinic(s) and ensures the overall financial and emotional health of the organization and that the organization is meeting its goals and mission. The Hospital Manager delegates duties as needed to achieve clinic goals and oversees support staff to ensure individual duties are being completed, but ultimately is expected to step in and work alongside staff as needed to meet goals. This position is a supervisory position, and the successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership, direction and discipline when necessary. The Hospital Manager will manage and diffuse staff interpersonal issues. They will serve as point person for the dissemination of information to staff.
Essential Functions:
- Interview potential candidates for employment
- Evaluate and counsel existing staff
- Establish and maintain ongoing training
- Oversees work schedules for clinic personnel
- Veterinarian technician skills including: admitting patients, surgery monitoring, dispensing medications/vaccines and intravenous blood draws.
- Planning, organizing and implementing programs
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment for the animals
- Ensure security of the clinic, animals, and supplies
- Establish working relationships with other functional groups
- Report to work at assigned start time; go to/return from breaks and lunch at assigned times; leave work at assigned quitting time.
- Maintain database management in compliance with the Spay Neuter Network policies
- Cost control of inventory and payroll
Typical decisions this position has TOTAL authority to make:
- Resolving customer service issues
- Scheduling staff
- Verbal counseling of employees
- Approval of Earned Leave Time for staff.
- Delineate staff assignments.
- Routine decisions regarding the proper care and handling of animals.
Typical problems this position will face:
- Customer service issues (unhappy patrons).
- Staffing issues.
- High levels of stress.
- Dealing with fractious animals.
- Managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Regular exposure to animal odors, diseases, possible contagious conditions, bites, scratches, animal waste and moderate noise levels.

- Managing people and processes of the Clinic
- Ensuring all animals within the clinic are treated with respect
- Preparing and maintaining budget
- Preparing accurate reports in a timely and efficient manner
- Safety Management Program to include inspections
- Follows the mission of Spay Neuter Network
Knowledge, skill, and abilities needed to perform the Essential functions of this position:
- Must demonstrate the Core Values of Spay Neuter Network on and off the job.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of Supervisor/Manager experience (Animal experience a plus)
- Must have Veterinarian technician skills including; admitting patients, surgery monitoring, dispensing medications/vaccines and intravenous blood draws.
- Excellent organization skills
- Must be 25 years old to meet insurance requirements and must be qualified and licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Texas.
- Ability to analyze processes for continuous rapid improvement
- Computer skills to include Microsoft Suite Programs
- Ability to work daily under stress and pressure
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility in dealing with people
Required professional licensing or certifications:
- Valid Texas Driver’s License AND pass DMV check.
