Key Responsibilities
As a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the well-being of our patients and providing excellent client service. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Animal Care & Handling: Prepare patients for exams, administer medications, and monitor animal health during procedures. Assist with physical examinations and provide basic treatments under the supervision of veterinarians.
- Clinical Support: Assist in diagnostic imaging, including x-rays, ultrasound, and laboratory work. Prepare samples for lab testing and perform in-house diagnostic tests.
- Surgical Assistance: Support veterinary staff during surgeries by setting up surgical suites, assisting with sterile techniques, monitoring anesthesia, and post-operative recovery.
- Client Interaction & Education: Communicate with clients regarding their pets’ conditions, aftercare instructions, and preventative health measures. Provide guidance on home care, nutrition, and wellness.
- Medical Record Management: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using veterinary software. Update and monitor treatment plans and inventory.
- Medical Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization in exam rooms, surgical areas, and the clinic overall. Ensure equipment is functioning and properly sanitized.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.

Experience: Prior experience working in a veterinary setting is strongly desired, but not required.
(Ideal candidates will have experience as a veterinary assistant, veterinary technician, or in an animal care role.) - Licensure: Licensure as a Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT) is preferred, but not required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry animals (up to 50 pounds), stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks related to patient care.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certification or degree in veterinary technology or animal science is a plus.
- Experience in anesthesia monitoring, radiology, laboratory diagnostics, and pharmacy management.
- Proficiency in animal behavior, customer service, and client education.
- Comfort with veterinary software systems and electronic medical records (EMR).
