Veterinary Assistant
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
City Pet Hospital is looking for a compassionate, motivated, articulate, enthusiastic "people person" who pays attention to detail. Our ideal candidate can work in a fast-paced environment, enjoys interacting with a wide variety of clients and their pets, takes pride in a job well done and can work Weekdays or Weekends as needed. This position could include cross-training with different departments.
City Pet Hospital is a full-service animal hospital that provides superior veterinary care services, including wellness, surgical, and emergency care, to the pets and clients in our community seven days a week.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Greet patients, their pets, vendors, pharmaceutical representatives, and other visitors to our medical office
- Educate clients on the importance of preventative care
- Answer patient questions, provide assistance and directions when necessary
- Field all phone calls and send emails
- Utilize our medical office software to schedule new and follow-up appointments for our patients
- Register new patients and update necessary records
- Checking in and out clients/patients
- Distribute forms and paperwork to patients and then check them over to ensure that required fields are completed appropriately
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient records
- Ensure that the waiting room environment remains quiet, calm, organized and welcoming
- Uphold the positive reputation of our medical office by always treating visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and compassionate manner
- Be willing and comfortable learning and performing medical and office procedures (placing IV catheters, digital radiography, ultrasound, blood and urine collection, anesthetic monitoring, assisting in surgery, animal restraint, dispensing medications, checking in and charging out clients, general cleaning, giving oral and injectable medications, providing client education, dental polishing and scaling)
- Physical ability to lift, restrain and move 50 pound animals on your own, the ability to be on your feet for several hours at a time, and the ability to stand, reach, and bend on a regular and consistent basis
