A little about you…
We are looking for a person who loves animals and their care. This person can work with some level of independence and in a team atmosphere while having clear communications skills. The main responsibility of the Veterinary Assistant is to support the Veterinarian with the pets in rooms, in treatment or in surgery.
The list below is not all inclusive of all duties of this role:
- Welcoming and comforting clients and their pets
- Communicating with clients via phone, text, email and in-person
- Assisting front office with intakes and discharges
- Maintaining medical records
- Assisting veterinarian in exam rooms
- Obtaining history and vitals
- Cleaning and restocking of medical supplies and medications
- Filling medications and reviewing instructions with clients
- Performing routine laboratory tests
- Perform injections, pedicures, and assist with treatments
- Preparing for and monitoring anesthesia
- Performing duties involving radiology
- Obtain blood samples
- Placing IV Catheters
- Performing dental procedures, including dental radiology, scaling and polishing.

Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals
- Computer experience and willingness to learn new technology
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 30 lbs)
- High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Patient and caring personality
- Willingness to learn
