Position Overview
As a Shelter Veterinarian, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality veterinary care to a diverse population of animals in need. This is a unique opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with a commitment to community impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead High-Impact Medicine:
- Perform a wide range of veterinary procedures, including high-volume spay/neuter surgeries, complex medical procedures, and emergency care.
- Develop and implement medical protocols to enhance animal health and well-being.
- Drive Program Innovation:
- Shape and implement innovative shelter health programs and protocols.
- Train staff on best practices in animal care and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with local universities and other organizations to advance shelter medicine practices.
- Champion Animal Welfare:
- Provide expert veterinary testimony in animal cruelty cases.
- Participate in public health initiatives to improve animal welfare in the community.
- Guide a Medical Team:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to veterinary technicians and shelter staff.
- Foster a culture of compassionate care and high medical standards.
- Build Community Solutions:
- Develop and implement community outreach programs to expand access to veterinary care.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with other animal welfare organizations.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Tennessee.
- Excellent surgical and medical skills with a strong emphasis on high-volume spay/neuter procedures.
- Experience in shelter medicine is preferred, but not required.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive annual salary range: $106,923.76 - $165,731.85
