WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
This position is part of the Division of Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Kodiak. The Vessel Technician is responsible for the proper operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of the vessel’s machinery and equipment, and maintains the 156’ patrol vessel in a high state of seaworthiness to meet its operational commitments.OUR ORGANIZATION, MISSION, AND CULTURE:

This position is in the Alaska Wildlife Trooper/ State Trooper building in Kodiak, which features ample and easily accessible parking. Vessel Technicians work on the vessel to conduct routine maintenance at the dock and in town while not underway. When the vessel is underway crew conducts commercial fishing patrol and gear inspection, along with responding to emergency calls for service.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Knowledge of marine diesel and gasoline engines appropriate for the vessel to which assigned; hydraulic systems, mechanical systems, auxiliary equipment including power plants, pumps and winches; welding techniques, and engine repair; tool and equipment used in maintenance and repair.
- Ability to safely operate all vessel equipment; weld, repair engines, generators, pumps, winches; carry out oral and written instructions.
