Versatile Electrical Engineer
Client's state of the art fiber optic interrogator measures ground motions smaller than an atomic diameter from kilometers away, using fiber optics, radio frequency electronics, high speed ADCs, and sophisticated FPGA based DSP.
Use your Electrical Engineering skills to bring-up, debug, and integrate this system into production.
Job Description
Seeking a dynamic, hands-on electrical engineer with 8-15+ years of experience to design and integrate high reliability boards operating from DC to light for commercial and military
systems.
The role requires strong technical leadership.
• Take ownership of implementing board design activities
• Able to prioritize, organize and manage many disparate tasks, and push projects and teams to coordinate and execute together
• Must coordinate the collaboration of team members working in related areas (e.g. mechanical, firmware, optical or systems engineering) as they assist on your board/and or chassis design activities)
• You may be responsible for deciding how to incorporate in the design efforts of consultants who will likely assist in certain aspects of the design. Where consultants are used, you will coordinate and focus their efforts to produce the best possible product while keeping the project within a reasonable time and budget constraints.
Workflow:
• Work cross-functionally (with systems engineering, etc.) to develop system architecture and specifications.
• Work within engineering to translate product requirements into design specifications for assigned projects.
• Hands-on design of electronics that successfully integrate with electromechanical and software subsystems
• Contribute to detailed electrical and firmware design, including analog, digital, power supply, power electronics, timing and PLLs, and low-noise PCB design.
• Prepare, present, and participate in comprehensive technical and/or design reviews.
• Responsible for part selection, schematic creation and administering and reviewing layout activities.
• Parts procurement and interfacing to contract manufacturers
• Prototype bring up and troubleshooting.
• Work with firmware engineers and system engineers to make sure the board achieves the required system objectives.
• Create and maintain test protocols for design verification and validation activities as required.
• Oversee the execution of testing, document results and create final reports for assigned projects.
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree Required, Master’s (Desired) in Electrical Engineering
