As the Program Manager, Carbon Neutrality and Startup Investment Ecosystems for the East Coast region, you will source and propose unique technology and business opportunities for investment and collaboration, and from R&D to new business development. Candidates with 3-5+ years of Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) or Venture Capital (VC) investment with an exceptional understand of CASE, Mobility, Smart City, Energy / Climate Technology, and Automotive/Transportation and take personal interests in these industries are highly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
70% of your work will focus on sourcing, identifying, proposing, and leading strategic investment opportunities with the Corporate Venturing team and 30% of your time will focus on network expansion and brand awareness for the East Coast region of the US.
- Source relevant East Coast deal flow through, database tools (Pitchbook, Crunchbase, etc.) and your personal network of Venture Capital (VC) Firms, Corporate Venture Capital (CVCs) Firms, startups, and related entities.
- Lead the internal investment process for selected deals.
- Identify high quality investment opportunities involving transformational technologies.
- Perform Initial Due diligence including market potential, technical strength, financial viability, team by gathering information from the target company, industry experts and other sources.
- Develop, broaden, and strengthen your network of VC/CVC’s startups, and related entities.
- Create and present investment proposals weekly to relevant team and stakeholders.
- Be the primary interface and support for portfolio companies.
- Support internal open innovation Startup collaborations as necessary.
Required Skillset:
- 3-5+ years of experience on a corporate venture capital (CVC) or venture capital (VC) team.
- Expert knowledge in two or more of the following areas:
- CASE (Connected, Automated, Shared and Electrified)
- Mobility
- Energy
- Climate technology
- Smart City
- Automotive/ Transportation
- Extensive CVC/VC network on the East Coast particularly in Boston and NYC.
- To be successful in this position, we’re seeking candidates with a unique blend of experience and background in innovation and corporate venture capital (CVC) or venture capital (VC) process.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple work streams.
- Proven track record in sourcing, proposing, and closing early-stage investments.
- Ability to quickly ramp up technical knowledge in new areas.
- A strong work ethic is required to succeed in this fluid structure and work environment; excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to build a network in these areas of interest.
- Experience in corporate open innovation, venture investment and/or accelerator/incubator programs.
- Passionate about leveraging new technologies to create new experiences and improve human mobility.
- Driven and proactive, with an ability to adapt to dynamic circumstances, and thrive even with ambiguity.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, business, or related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Bonus Skillset:
- Corporate development and/or financial experience
- Formal Investment Due Diligence experience
- Master’s Degree in science or engineering and/or an MBA
- Understanding of Japanese business culture and practices
Location: Virtual working style based in the Boston Area with 3-6 months training required in Mountain View, CA.
Travel: Domestic and international travel up to 30% may be required.
