Van Production Planner Position Overview: As a Van Production Planner you will plan van plant production and finishing by station based on available and required manpower hours, material availability, and the optimal product mix necessary to achieve our goals. This position’s core responsibility will be effectively planning van plant assembly and finishing production.
Van Production Planner Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and maintain the van plant production and finishing planners based on weekly schedules and input from the production management team
- Plan by required and available station hours, material and manpower availability, and optimal product mix
- Anticipate and forecast manpower needs based on orders and sales forecasts. Plan and recommend manpower moves based on van plant needs
- Use knowledge of Mickey processes and products to proactively address material issues and ensure all required material is available in advance to prevent material-related production stoppages
- Proactively review upcoming orders independently and with supervisors and engineers to catch issues. Interact with engineering, sales, purchasing, the warehouse and the machine room to resolve issues in advance of product reaching the assembly line
- Learn and assist with other plant-wide scheduling and planning functions as deemed necessary by the scheduling manager
- Identifying problems and help improve planning and production processes
- Interact with internal stakeholders to solve problems and to gain and give production status updates
- Use Phoenix and Microsoft Excel to generate reports and schedules
Van Production Planner Required Qualifications:
- Prior van plant assembly and/or finishing experience - preferred
- Min of 1 year of manufacturing production experience
- Regular attendance is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Lean/Six Sigma Certification or the desire to achieve Lean/Six Sigma Certification - preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales orders, engineering prints, production schedules, etc.
- Ability to write clearly
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks
- A desire to promote the success of the organization and production staff
Van Production Planner Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to routinely sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear, use hands and fingers to keyboard, turn handles, feel, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, crawl, reach, and stretch.
- The employee occasionally moves around the office and enters the manufacturing areas.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: This position is based in a manufacturing office environment with exposure to light-to-moderate noise from adjoining plant operations.
