The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Value-Based Care Senior Medical Director of Texas. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new business line focused on value-based care innovation.
Our Sr. Medical Director will report to the Chief Medical Officer, serves as the clinician who oversees and guides the outpatient care and the medical director(s) of quality for primary care, facilitates office flow and addresses day-to-day clinical aspects, and acts as the direct clinical supervisor for outpatient medical practitioners.

- Clinical Leadership:
- Develop and implement clinical strategies that align with VBC goals, including quality, cost efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
- Provide leadership and guidance to physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals within the organization.
- Serve as the clinical voice in leadership meetings, contributing to organizational decision-making and strategic planning.
- Works with CMO to identify and implement changes to ensure continuous clinical improvement.
- Quality Improvement:
- Lead quality initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes, reducing hospital readmissions, and enhancing preventive care.
- Use data-driven methods to monitor and improve clinical performance metrics such as HEDIS, Star Ratings, and proper clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards of care.
- Population Health Management:
- Oversee the development and implementation of population health management strategies.
- Work closely with care coordination teams to optimize the management of high-risk, and high-cost patients.
- Support the integration of behavioral health, pharmacy, and specialty services into the care delivery model.
- Provider Engagement and Development:
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of clinical staff, focusing on leadership development and performance management.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and continuous learning within the clinical team.
- Lead efforts in physician engagement to enhance job satisfaction, reduce burnout, and ensure alignment with VBC goals, in compliance with MyCares supervisory requirements.
- Creates a professional and collaborative working environment with full colleague participation that promotes teamwork, quality, exceptional outcomes, and patient safety.
- Operational Management:
- Enjoys EMR Optimization, implementation and development, best practice strategies, coaching and mentoring physicians, as well as direct patient care.
- Masters use of clinical systems to ensure efficiency, excellent supportive documentation, appropriate and optimal coding levels, charge capture, and follow-through on all patient care orders.
- Collaborate with operational leadership to optimize clinic workflows, resource allocation, and service delivery.
- Partner with finance and operational teams to ensure the sustainability of VBC initiatives, including cost containment and revenue generation.
- Ensure the appropriate use of data analytics tools for improving practice efficiency and managing patient panels.
- Ensures compliance with individual State Practice Act/Rules and Regulations/WC Regulations
- External Relations:
- Represent the organization in public forums, conferences, and healthcare collaborations focused on value-based care.
- Develop partnerships with community organizations and other providers to promote comprehensive, coordinated care.
Senior Medical Director essential qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited Medical College with a Medical Degree in Family Practice or Internal Medicine or Geriatrics.
- Successful completion of a residency program in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine or Geriatric Medicine and must be board certified or eligible.
- Provider must have minimum of 10 years of practice in outpatient primary care, specifically within Value Based Care.
- Ideal experience: 3+ years experience supervising multiple clinics and providers - physicians and advanced practice providers (APP).
- Must possess a current Texas State Registration in good standing.
- Proficient in EHR medical documentation
- Familiarity with HCC, ICD10 coding, MRA, and utilization management preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent bedside manner and time management skill
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to staff and to build the trust and respect of patients, staff, colleagues, and external contacts.
- Must possess strong clinical skills in the management of seniors with complex medical needs throughout all environments of care.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to build relationships with external organizations, and interest in information technology applications in medical settings.
- Ability to effectively work across multiple markets and teams to optimize the performance of local leaders and their teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, including creativity, resourcefulness, timeliness, and technical knowledge related to analyzing and resolving medical/administrative problems.
- Excellent medical skills with proven positive outcomes
