About the Job
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To assist in the repairs of equipment and facilities used to pump, store, distribute, convey or treat and process water and wastewater.
WORK PERFORMED:
- Maintains and repairs water and wastewater treatment facilities using a variety of tools and equipment.
- Raises manholes, valve boxes, and meter boxes using hand tools and masonry tools.
- Uses hand tools to expose, cut, remove, and replace or clamp damaged sewer lines or water lines.
- Taps mainlines, install saddles, and connects water service to meter.
- Repairs and installs fittings, valves, hydrants and other appurtenances associated with water distribution on lines from 3"-24".
- Operate light trucks to transport crewmembers, equipment, and materials to worksite.
- Operates water jet rodder to clear clogged sewer lines.
- Taps mainlines, installs saddles, and connects sewer lines to residences.
- Repairs and installs taps, fittings, manholes and other appurtenances associated with sanitary sewer collection on lines from 4"- 24".
- Performs light mechanical repairs such as oil and filter changes.
- Provides emergency response to repair or maintain equipment or system, after normal working hours.
- Performs other duties within areas of responsibility and ability, as assigned.
- Fulfills on-call responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must possess six months to one year of related experience
- Valid Texas driver's license is required, with a good driving record
- Grade "D" certificate in the water
- Class "I" Collection license
Position is considered Emergency Essential and will require 24-hour availability during emergency conditions.
