About the Utility Aide Position:
Under the supervision of the cook's supervisor, the Utility worker cleans dishes, pots, and pans, glassware and silver by hand or machine. The Utility Aide is responsible for assuring the dishwasher is maintained, changing water and cleaning frequently. The Utility Worker will also fill out dish temperature logs, transports tableware to proper places in dining rooms and kitchen, and clean work areas. He or she may assist in cutting, pealing, and washing fruits and vegetables for Cooks and may push carts into various dining areas and assist in setting food on steam tables. The Utility Aide is responsible for garbage removal from the kitchen areas, as well as, sweeping, mopping, and hosing down floors thoroughly at the end of the evening shift.
The Utility Aide will...
Ensure sanitary procedures are followed for all ware washing
Follow, sign all daily, closing and QA cleaning assignment sheets to ensure that all cleaning tasks are complete and the kitchen is properly cleaned and organized at the end of the night.
When receiving food or goods, that all product is rotated and put away in an organized fashion in accordance with proper sanitation and FIFO standards
Discard broken and chipped glassware after showing to the supervisor
Make sure all refuge is properly discarded in proper receptacles
Ensure that the kitchen is kept in a clean and organized manner throughout the entire day.
Ensure having sufficient quantities of cleaned tableware in time to meet meal schedules and that tableware is properly stored and available for service staff.
Ensure that kitchen floors, equipment and walls stay clean and sanitized daily
Ensure that machine cleaning and breakdown procedures are followed after each meal period or more frequent if necessary
Conduct light food preparation as delegated by kitchen management when necessary.
Complete and follow any other tasks not mentioned herein that are assigned by management
Job Requirements:
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English Language
Must be able to operate the dishwashing machine and any other equipment required to do the job.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, both individually and as part of a team
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk short distances for most of the shift. Stooping, reaching for, pushing, lifting/carrying and stacking supplies frequently.
Must be able to withstand temperature changes when going in and out of refrigeration/freezer walk-ins
Strong customer service skills desired and an interest in working for the elderly
