Utilities Inspector (Full-Time) - MBP

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION:
Minimum four years of construction work experience and basic understanding of construction means and methods for water and sewer projects. Experience may be in the following project types: large diameter water mains, large diameter sewer force mains, gravity sewers, bypass systems, pump stations, SCADA systems, line stops, sewer CIPP rehabilitation, manhole rehabilitation, directional drilling, jack and boring, and micro-tunneling.
Responsibilities:MAIN DUTIES:
- Provides on-site compliance inspections, quality assurance, and progress monitoring.
- Communicates with and advises contractors of work deficiencies and required conformance.
- Researches the proper inspection and construction methods for each work activity.
- Performs required materials testing when necessary.
- Review monthly payment applications.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with agency, contractor and MBP personnel.
- Maintains project records including daily diaries which include detailed locations of work, construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, as well as project photos.
- Reviews and reports on construction work zones and traffic control devices.
- Tracks and records materials showing quantities received, used, and tested.
- Assists with final inspections and the creation and tracking of punchlist items through closeout.
- Obtains and maintains certifications required to inspect construction activities
- Participates in company activities, including but not limited to area and company meetings.
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Working knowledge of basic mathematics including algebraic and geometric computations.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools utilized in the type of construction or repair work.
- Certification(s) preferred by not required: State DOT, NASSCO, WACEL, ICC, NICET, or MARTCP.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to utilize computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and contract specifications.
- Ability to communicate inspection issues effectively and responsibly (verbally and in writing).
- Ability to utilize measurement tools effectively for the performance of the inspection duties.
- Ability to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
- Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to travel and drive regularly.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Fingerprint-based criminal history background check, DMV driving record check, reference verification, and work history will be required prior to employment. Valid driver's license and safety shoes required.
