Reports to: General Sales Manager
Full-Time Position / M-Sat (hours & days will vary)
Summary: The Used Car Manager is responsible for appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, and merchandising the used vehicle inventory. They perform typical manager duties, such as organizing schedules, training, interviewing, hiring, and setting goals.
Essential Duties:
- Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all salespeople
- Directs sales staffing and training in ways that will enhance the development and control of sales programs
- Maintains used vehicle inventory. Monitors customers likes and dislikes, lost sales, and dealership sales history and conducts local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock
- Appraises all incoming used vehicles
- Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership’s cost and time limitations
- Administers and monitors factory-sponsored programs
- Establishes and controls wholesaling activities
- Keeps current on auto auction activity and prices and attends auctions on a regular basis
- Attends managers meetings as requested
- Remains fully compliant with Company HR trainings
- Maintain professional and courteous attitude, wardrobe, and grooming
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- GED required
- Two to four years related experience and/or training preferred
- Proven knowledge of effective sales strategies and best practices
- Strong organizational skills, able to multitask, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Outgoing and service-oriented attitude
- Proficient in basic math skills
- Capable of effective communication with customers and employees; reading/understanding manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and safety regulations; and writing reports and other correspondence
