Role Summary/Purpose
The Manual/CNC Machinist will be responsible to perform complex operation of machine tools to produce/fabricate precision parts for gas and steam turbines. Applies advanced knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Ensures conformance to specifications and continues production consistent with established procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
In the role of Manual/CNC Machinist, you will:
" Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
" Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining
" Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders
" Calculate and set controls to regular machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media
" Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
" Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications
" Be able to operate all machine tools as required
" Use of advanced trade mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, all varieties of precision measuring instruments, and multi-machine work stations
Qualifications/Requirements
" High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
" Minimum 5 years of Manual and CNC Machining experience
" Minimum of 5 years of experience reading Prints, Mics, and Calipers
" Advanced degree can be substituted for experience.
Eligibility requirements:
" Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
" Lift objects weighing up to 35 lbs.
" Ability and willingness to work 1st or 2nd shift, as required
Desired Characteristics
" Familiarity with job-shop, manufacturing or field service environments
" Experience with crane rigging and complex lifts
" Able to adjust to new product lines as introduced
" Prior work experience in heavy industrial equipment assembly, repair and machining or in any of the essential responsibilities listed above
" Work in a team environment with minimal supervision
" Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
" Ability to successfully complete all required certification and training courses
