We are looking for a US Transportation Specialist - Princeton, NJ.
Scope of the job
The Transport Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of pharmaceutical and cell therapy products and materials. This role will involve establishing and maintaining partnerships with transportation providers and ensuring smooth operations of outbound and inbound logistics. The Transport Specialist will also provide support to various stakeholders, including internal teams and external customers, to ensure exceptional service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Your role
Logistics:
Develop and maintain relationships with transport providers, including couriers, freight companies, and other third-party logistics partners.
Coordinate and schedule transportation services to ensure timely delivery of products and materials to internal and external partners including manufacturing sites, laboratories, clinical sites, and customers.
Central role in management of US domestic shipping.
Monitor the performance of transportation providers, including on-time delivery, adherence to quality standards, and cost-effectiveness.
Oversee import/export activities, ensuring compliance with FDA regulations, CDC, and USDA.
Generate import/export documentation, resolve customs delays and maintain related records.
Stakeholder Support:
Collaborate with the internal and external teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment and resolve any outbound logistics-related issues promptly.
Provide support and assistance to internal and external customers regarding order tracking, delivery updates, and any inquiries or concerns related to shipments.
Act as a liaison between the warehouse and other internal departments to facilitate effective communication and coordination of shipment activities.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline logistics processes, reduce lead times, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
Work closely with the Global Transport Team to implement process improvements, automation tools, and technology solutions.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to outbound operations and report on performance metrics regularly.
Who are you?
Proven experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or similar roles within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
Experience shipping sensitive and temperature-controlled goods.
Experience with international shipping requirements.
Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP)
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, customers, and external partners.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify process gaps, and propose innovative solutions.
Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy and quality in picking, packing, and shipping operations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with inventory management software is a plus.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards related to pharmaceutical and cell therapy distribution is advantageous.

Base compensation for this position ranges from $ 74,625 to $ 124,375. Actual base compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, qualifications, job-related knowledge, demonstrated skills and geographic location. The company reserves the right to modify base salary ranges at any time.
In addition, this position is eligible for participation in both Galapagos’ performance bonus plan and long-term incentive program. We offer comprehensive and generous benefits and programs to help our colleagues lead healthy lives and to support important moments in life.
