The Opportunity:
The Oakland office of Perkins Eastman is looking for a team member that will work across our planning and design practice bringing their creative design and analytical skills to the process of creating urban environments and community. We expect this team member to work closely on integrated urban design, urban connections, education, and strategic planning projects in the service of creating sustainable environments.
The individual selected will be exposed to a variety of design challenges, styles, and project delivery methods. Our preferred candidate has a willingness to continually learn and evolve, tackling new subject areas with curiosity and critical thinking.
What We Provide:
The Oakland Studio is highly integrated with our West Coast studios in Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Costa Mesa. We provide meaningful place-based solutions to urban design, architecture, and planning for a broad variety of public sector clients on the West Coast.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work as a collaborative team member supporting conceptual, schematic, and design development on urban design and architecture projects including site analysis, program assessments, design guidelines, facility designs, incorporating visual and written communications.
- Contribute to project deliverables including feasibility studies, reports, analytics, visualizations, and drawing deliverables including supporting various phases of design using 3D Modeling and visualization software (Rhino, Sketchup or Revit)
- Under guidance, support client, stakeholder and public communications through diagrams, infographics, and written presentations necessary for review/approval and proposals.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture or urban design/planning from an Accredited School,
- 3 years’ experience in urban design, planning, architecture, or landscape architecture.
- Excellent graphic presentation skills.
- Self-organizing with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Strong written and verbal skills, comfortable drafting memos, reports, and meeting minutes.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn and develop design skills.
- Can demonstrate proficiency with productivity tools including Microsoft Office, graphic design, and visualizations (Adobe or other).
Desired Qualifications:
- Have a masters degree in architecture or urban design from an Accredited School,
- 5 years’ experience in urban design, planning, architecture, or landscape architecture.
- Project management skills, public sector projects a plus
- Can demonstrate proficiency with tools including Microsoft Office, Affinity Suite, InDesign, Rhino, Grasshopper, ESRI ArcGIS, or similar related design and presentation software. Enscape, Lumion,

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographical work location.
Salary Range: $69,000 to $88,000
