Description: Our client is currently seeking a Unix/Linux Administrator
This job will have the following responsibilities:
- In your role as a Linux Administrator, you will be the Tier 1 / Tier 2 support of the Business systems in a 24x7 follow the sun model. This will entail alert management, OS troubleshooting and working to restore service in a robust Enterprise Environment.
•Monitoring of Linux/Unix systems
•Troubleshooting of systems
•Alert management
•Incident Management
•Working with clients across our Business Units to maintain and restore service
•Automation of activities through scripting and configuration management
•Working with Hardware teams to maintain the physical server estate
•Documentation of processes and procedures for the team
Qualifications & Requirements:
•Virtualization experience in VMware
•Networking knowledge/skills
•Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise-grade server hardware such as HP and Dell rackmount servers
•Experience using remote management interfaces like Dell iDRAC, HP iLO, VMware vCenter/vSphere
•An automation-first mindset
•Incident management experience
•Prior experience in the Financial Service Industry is a plus
•Prior Enterprise experience is a plus
•Relevant certifications are a strong plus•Provide support to the firm’s critical applications that leverage Linux platforms, including ensuring the health, performance, and availability of Linux systems.•Standardize processes using automation tooling such as Python or bash, or systems configuration management.
•Monitor system health, performance and availability using tools like custom scripts.
•Responsible for responding to alerts promptly to ensure minimal downtime and resolve issues related to operating systems, applications, and network connectivity and maintain SLA (Service Level Agreement) adherence.
•Taking appropriate actions based on severity levels and escalation procedures.
•Collaborate with hardware teams to manage and maintain physical server infrastructure (HP,Dell rackmount servers)
•Build automation tools using Python and shell scripting to reduce manual implementation.
•Troubleshoot Linux and Unix systems in a First and Second-Level support capacity.
•Interact regularly with clients and partner engineering teams across the organization.
•Perform root cause analysis on system failures and incidents and provide remediation solutions.
