Opportunities are available in the following areas depending on interest and abilities:
Controllership Accounting (Month end close)
Financial Analysis (Variance explanations)
Regulatory Accounting (Statutory)
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close
Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles
Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position
Assist with the month quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups

Required Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting from an accredited college/university during the duration of the internship. Internships are not intended for graduating seniors
3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
Current junior (grad date May 2026)
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Demonstrated leadership qualities and leadership potential
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated presentation skills
Connecticut Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $18.00 to $32.00 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. Primary Responsibilities:
Gain real-world experience by working on actual internal audits
Receive formal training on how to plan and execute operational audits, including performing risk assessments, documenting business processes, risks, internal controls, and developing audit testing procedures
Perform audit assignments, such as participating in process and internal control walkthroughs, preparing audit narratives/flow charts, performing audit testing procedures, identifying internal control gaps, and summarizing audit testing results
Learn excellent project management skills to allow multiple projects to run concurrently and ensure timely completion
Build strong relationships with all levels of management and senior leaders, including presenting audit status, issues identified, recommendations, and corrective/preventative actions performed by management

Tax Intern, Summer 2025

As a Tax Intern within UnitedHealth Group, you will spend time on a variety of tax matters that make an impact and drive real value to the enterprise. You will have a chance to work to spend meaningful time working in and learning multiple areas of tax during your internship. Primary Responsibilities:
You should expect to gain experience in many of the following areas:
Assist in preparation of income tax provisions for financial statements
Assist in preparation of federal, state/local and international income tax returns
Support tax controversy matters, including audits and notices
Participate in tax planning, mergers & acquisitions, integrations, etc.
Conduct tax research and draft supporting memorandums
Work with technology that supports the tax function
Assist with a variety of international tax and transfer pricing matters
