We're seeking a Unit Secretary to join our team at Loudoun Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Leesburg, VA. As a Unit Secretary, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the efficient operations of our facility by providing administrative and clerical assistance to medical staff, patients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Manage phone calls, inquiries, and requests, directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Assist nursing staff in maintaining patient records and electronic medical records.
- Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures, optimizing patient flow.
- Maintain office and medical supply inventory, placing orders as needed.
- Transcribe physician orders accurately into the electronic medical record system.
- Coordinate communication between medical staff and other departments.
- Ensure the administrative area is organized and tidy.
- Uphold patient confidentiality in compliance with regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical administration education is a plus.
- CNA license not required, but preferred
- Prior experience as a unit secretary or in a similar role within healthcare.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and basic office software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to remain composed in fast-paced situations.
- Customer-focused attitude with a compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous.
