- JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Responsible for the organization and transmission of patient information by telephone, verbal and written communications. Serves as a receptionist and ambassador for the department by answering phones and greeting patients, visitors, and family members. Provides information and direction to customers in accordance with their needs. Performs various support activities for the department such as ordering supplies, stocking, and coordinating the needs of the unit/department.
- DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- The Emergency Department provides care for patients with a wide variety of needs from non-critical to emergent medical conditions including emergent and urgent mental health care. All patients are welcome whether walking in or arriving by emergency transport. All Emergency Department staff are certified to care for critical cardiac and trauma patients including children.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience and/or training with computer applications required.
- Experience and/or training in medical terminology preferred.
- Related experience and/or training in a medical facility preferred.
- KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Time Management: Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
- Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues.
- Customer Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
