Job Title: RN Unit Manager
Job Description:
Salary Range: $88k - $90k yearly

Job duties:
- Assist the Director of Nursing and Associate Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Facility.
- Supervises that all nursing services personnel are following their respective job descriptions.
- Participate in Facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing Services.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and periodically updating the resident’s written care plan.
- Conducts LPN and CNA annual evaluations. Implements progressive disciplinary action in the forms of verbal/written counseling and written warnings regarding staff job performance and infractions of facility policy and procedure. Ability to hire/fire staff.
- Participates in decisions regarding probation, hiring and disciplinary action up to and including termination as requested.
- Keeps physician, family and Nursing Administration apprised of resident problems/concerns as appropriate.
- Ensure that a sufficient number of nursing staff is available for each tour of duty to ensure that quality care is maintained.
- Make daily rounds of the Nursing Services Department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Report findings to the Director of Nursing Services.
- Review complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel. Make appropriate reports to the Director of Nursing Services, as required or as may be necessary.
- Attends daily morning report.
- Participates in Quality Assurance. Conducts Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement audits to further increase quality care.
- Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled.
- Participate in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident.
- Works closely with MDS Department to ensure all needed documentation is compiled as scheduled.
- Performs required charting according to policy and procedure and monitors for similar performance by licensed nurses over 24 hour period.
- Makes rounds to assess for early and prompt evaluation for changes in condition.
- Ensures all emergency equipment has been checked at the beginning of each shift.
- Ensures that narcotic count is completed each shift by two nurses according to policy and procedure.
- Ensures that maintenance work orders are completed for all needed repairs. Ensures that rooms are ready for new admissions.
- Establishes and verifies PAR levels of central supplies required to meet unit/resident needs.
- Investigates all Accidents/Incidents and compiles necessary documentation to ensure abuse has not occurred.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in the state of Florida
- Previous experience in long-term care
