About the Job
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for organizing and maintaining an efficient nursing station, providing supplies, forms and information necessary for nurses, physicians and consultants to do their duties. Monitors access to medical records in order to ensure confidentiality. Performs reception duties and assists in data input and transmission of reporting materials to State and Federal agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as receptionist at nurse’s station, greets and obtains signatures of visitors in logbook and provides visitor badge. Answers telephones, directs calls to appropriate person, and/or communicates messages to staff and/or Resident.
- Provides daily staffing for calculation of PPD.
- Provides Resident identification bands and room nameplate pictures upon Resident Admission and monitors weekly, replacing as needed. Maintains room census board. Audits medical records as scheduled by the Medical Records Coordinator. Provides copies of audits to Nursing Supervisors and Health Center management.
- Inventories all facility equipment, using a numbering system, and provides the business office with records as requested. Marks and records all Resident's eyeglasses, dentures and privately owned property.
- Monitors doctor's visits for timeliness and notifies Nursing Supervisors, Director of Nursing or medical records of needs for visits.
- Maintains exit seeking book for residents using Wanderguard system.
- When requested, assists in making staffing calls.
- Completes and coordinates maintenance work orders for repair of equipment.
- Orders supplies, labels as needed, performs monthly billing and change of status notice as requested by supervision. Monitors copy machine and fax, and keeps supplied with paper, ink, toner, etc.
- Observes proper infection control procedures, assists in maintaining the safety of Residents. Follows Resident Rights regulations and policies. Observes all facility safety policies and procedures.
- If appropriately certified, assists nursing staff as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by nursing supervision, Director of Nursing, Administrator, COO or CEO.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Neat appearance and good grooming habits. Must be interested in and have compassion for the elderly. Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written and be fluent in the English language. Needs to have organizational skills sufficient to allow for meeting deadlines and goals in a dynamic environment. CNA certification is desirable. Must be computer literate sufficient to perform all tasks required of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) System.
