Position Purpose

Support Underwriting by reviewing/approving endorsements, reviewing/analyzing risks, reviewing terms and conditions of underlying policies, reviewing inspections of risks, training and auditing the work of others within the Branch Operations support function, managing relationships engaged in department including Underwriters, reinsurers, and producers. 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs simple and routine data entry.

• Sorts and routes incoming department mail, email, and faxes.

• Performs general clerical work as a department administrative assistant.

• Serves as primary receptionist for the branch office.

• Miscellaneous office duties

• Review facultative insurance certificates to ensure the terms identified by the reinsurer are consistent with terms expected by underwriter.

• Resolve accounting discrepancies with facultative reinsurers.

• Provide operational, production, and underwriting reports to underwriting staff as requested, utilizing front-end systems and/or Business Objects.

• Contact producers to determine appropriate courses of action.

• Assist with User Acceptance Testing of systematic changes.

• Train Operations Assistants with Level 1 experience in which s/he is located or in other branch offices.

• Audit the work of others.

• May be given authority to review/approve endorsements, review/analyze risks, review terms and conditions of underlying policies, review inspections of risks, each of which would be on behalf of Underwriting.

Education & Experience

• Typically requires a high school diploma; Associates degree preferred

• 4+ years of related experience for consideration

• [OR] equivalent level of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

• Possesses direct product complexity experience.
