Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for an Underwriter.

Position type: Full-time Contract

Duration: 12 months

Location: Philadelphia, PA

As an Underwriter, you will be:

• Responsible for preparing and reviewing various ratings, analyses cases and employs various underwriting risk assessment techniques depending on the appropriate approach for the specific customer.
• Responsible for using supporting documentation for analysis and makes recommendations internally to underwriting management and/or sales based on established authority level.
• Responsible for assists more junior underwriters in meeting department needs and developing skills.
• Responsible for attending customer and broker dialogues to develop consultative skills.
• Responsible for working closely with sales Team to advise on compliance with underwriting requirements and customer risk characteristics.
  
  

The ideal candidate will have:

• Knowledge of insurance concepts, underwriting, rating techniques and basic risk evaluation is required.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills as well as the ability to recognize, research and resolve discrepancies is required.
• Exhibits a prescribed level of proficiency across all competencies as defined in the Underwriting Competency Model.
• Knowledgeable of insurance concepts, and advanced understanding rating techniques.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft office suite of products (Access, Word, and Excel) and internal underwriting support systems.
• Possesses solid working knowledge of Health Care Reform, risk assessment, marketplace conditions, competitive landscape, and relevant business acumen.
• May underwrite medical, pharmacy, and/or ancillary lines of business.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in group insurance environment and 2+ years’ experience working in underwriting environment.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, MBA Preferred.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range: $35- $39/hr.

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
