**Job Overview:**
United Trades of America is seeking experienced and skilled Underground Equipment Operators for our coal mining operations in Jasper, Alabama. The ideal candidate will operate various types of mining equipment to extract coal safely and efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of underground mining practices, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Operate underground mining equipment, such as continuous miners, shuttle cars, roof bolters, and other related machinery.
- Perform pre-operational checks on equipment and report any defects or maintenance needs.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitor equipment operation and adjust controls as needed to maintain efficient coal extraction.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and any incidents.
- Adhere to all company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Assist with other mining operations as required.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating underground mining equipment in a coal mine.
- Strong understanding of underground mining operations and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, safety regulations, and equipment specifications.
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and challenging environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Valid underground mining certification (if applicable).
**Preferred Skills:**
- Certification or training in specific mining equipment operation.
- Knowledge of MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations.
- Experience with emergency response procedures in underground mining.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) regularly.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding and sometimes hazardous environment.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
