We are Gateway Regional Medical Center. Our primary function is to offer continuous nursing, medical, and other health and social services on a 24-hour basis, under physician directed care and RN supervision.

The Ultrasound Tech performs diagnostic ultrasound of quality and quantity that meets the department standards. The Ultrasound Tech also assists the radiologist in performance of certain ultrasound guided biopsy procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Is proficient in performing diagnostic examinations of quality and quantity that meets the department standards.
- Assesses problems areas relating to the department and works with a radiology supervisory personnel on timely solutions to those problems.
- Learns new procedures and stays current in the ultrasound area using continued education opportunities.
- Performs quality assurance work relating to the department of ultrasound.
- Looks for innovative approaches to improving the overall efficiency and quality of work done in the ultrasound department.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
- Ensures cleanliness of ultrasound equipment in the examination rooms according to the department standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Must have knowledge of growth and development and show clinical expertise for the ages of patients served, including child, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Possesses the ability to react effectively to these patients' needs.
- Must be a graduate of an approved school of ultrasonography. Individual must be a Registered Sonographer in good standing with the ARRT or ARDMS. (Vascular registry is a plus.)
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Good understanding of cross sectional anatomy.
- Ability to apply patient history to exam.
- Good oral and written communication required.
