POSITION SUMMARY: Hourly food service Team members are responsible
for the successful daily operations of our cafeteria and catering
departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Team member in this role has a primary responsibility to prepare and
cook food for the Tyson Caf. Food preparation will be accomplished using
daily prep lists, recipes, menus and direction from managers.
Food prep duties include assessing food quality, washing, cutting, and
seasoning foods.
Food is prepared through a variety of cooking methods including
roasting, frying, steaming, sauteing, braising and more.
Candidates for this role should have a basic understanding of cooking
techniques, knife skills, basic kitchen terminology, as well as a strong
desire to grow their knowledge and gain proficiency in their culinary
techniques.
Candidates should possess strong time management and organizational
skills, be able to prioritize tasks and multitask when needed. This role
functions as a part of the overall kitchen team, and as such, candidate
should be a strong team player and have a focus on team success.
Other aspects of the job may include tasks such as: receiving and
rotating supplies, working food action stations, caf guest interaction,
and occasionally assist with dish washing and catering.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience: Preferred candidates will be able to prove a
minimum of 12 months of professional work experience in a foodservice or
hospitality role; and/or currently enrolled in, or a graduate of a
culinary, hospitality, foodservice or related field of study in a
continuing education institution
Physical Requirements: Ability to push, pull, lift or carry up to
50lbs, bend; Twist, stoop and reach frequently for the duration of
shift, as well as walk or stand for 8 hours on hard surfaces; Ability to
withstand routine and repetitive work for the duration of shift; Ability
to tolerate hot and cold temperatures for extended periods of time,
while performing job functions; Ability to work safely and unrestricted
with ware-washing and kitchen equipment
Special Skills: Good verbal/written communication skills needed to
read, comprehend, and execute kitchen recipes; Basic math skills, basic
understanding of measurements & currency; Strong time management and
organizational skills; Knowledge of basic culinary and kitchen
terminology; Servsafe or food handlers certification is preferred, but
NOT required.
