What does the job entail?
Setup and operate various sizes of tube benders to bend different size tubes to required shape. Install bend tooling and align properly. Program bender as needed. Work from job sheet to get proper blank tubes to bend. Use tape measure, super gauge, calipers, and fixed gauges.
Pay:
Based on Experience $19-$21 higher with more Tube Bender/Machinist Experience
Hours:
1st Shift: Monday thru Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm(typically work between 40-50 hours /week)
About MEC! We are a job shop that creates various tubes for a number of industries including: Commercial, Agricultural, Military, and Recreational Vehicles! Our parts go on everything from tractor combines, to hospital generators – all fabricated by our skilled team!
Sets up bending equipment per blueprint with appropriate tooling and clamp block, radius die, follower, wiper and mandrel as required
Programs bending equipment for production as required
Determines adjustment(s) and pressures required to compensate for clamp marks, scratches, wrinkling and other problems associated with improper set-up
Read job sheets for specifications such as material type, size of blanks.
Obtain and transfer blank tubes to machine.
Installs proper tooling.
Positions tube and presses proper button(s) to start machine.
Measures part for conformity to specifications.
Marks 1st part with proper identification.
Check fluid levels and replenishes oil and coolant as needed. Greases machine.
Performs any other operations as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a metal shop or similar environment is a plus
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings and shop information in English
- Strong attention to detail and precision
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods
