Job Details
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Associate Attorney to join our Trust & Estates Practice. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of relevant experience and possess a strong foundation in trust and estate matters. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a crucial role in providing legal counsel, managing client relationships, and contributing to the success of our practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Representation: Provide legal representation and counsel to clients in various trust and estate matters, including estate planning, trust administration, probate proceedings, and tax planning.
Drafting and Reviewing: Prepare and review legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning instruments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Transactional Work: Assist in structuring and implementing complex estate plans, wealth preservation strategies, and asset protection techniques tailored to clients' individual needs and objectives.
Litigation Support: Support senior attorneys in trust and estate litigation matters, including will contests, trust disputes, fiduciary litigation, and contested guardianships.
Client Consultation: Conduct client meetings and consultations to assess their needs, provide legal advice, and develop personalized estate plans aligned with their goals and preferences.
Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research, analyze case law, statutes, and regulations, and stay abreast of developments in trust and estate law to provide informed counsel to clients and support the firm's thought leadership initiatives.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff within the Trust & Estates Practice group to deliver comprehensive and seamless legal services to clients.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the Illinois Bar or ability to waive into the Illinois Bar.
3-7 years of experience practicing in the field of trust and estates, preferably at a reputable law firm.
Strong understanding of trust and estate planning principles, tax implications, and fiduciary duties.
Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and client confidentiality.
