Job Summary
The Fiduciary Services Associate is responsible for assisting the Senior Fiduciary team with firm-wide estate administration and other fiduciary projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the estate administration process including collection and valuation of assets, filing life insurance and annuity claims, identification and payment of debts and administration expenses, monitoring filing deadlines and preparation of related documentation for estate inventory and estate tax returns
- Interpret governing instruments and applicable laws to ensure the proper set-up of estate account records, including payments, fee allocation and tax records
- Maintain documentation of life insurance policies for trustee accounts
- Prepare materials for Trust and Investment Committee meetings
- Monitor Fiduciary Services mailbox and delegate action to appropriate team members
- Partner with members of the Fiduciary and Client Service teams on various firm-wide fiduciary projects
- Collaborate with relationship teams and provide advice regarding post- death administration of trusts
- Liaise with Operations to ensure proper tax and statement reporting for accounts impacted by a client's death
Skills / Competencies necessary for this job include:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience related to trust and estate paralegal or administration; knowledge of trust and estate law, income transfer, and generational skipping taxation, with ability to apply that knowledge to fiduciary oversight and estate administration preferred
- Ethical practitioner with ability to exercise sound judgment and effectively manage risk
- Ability to develop trust and build internal and external relationships
- Strong work ethic with ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks within deadlines
- Strong analytical abilities and excellent attention to detail
- Excellent writing and communications skills
