Job Description:
As a Truss Designer, you will play a key role in designing wood trusses for residential and commercial projects. You will work closely with a sales team, engineers, and production staff to ensure that each truss design meets project specifications, building codes, and customer requirements. Your knowledge of Mitek and Alpine software will be crucial for creating accurate and efficient designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Trusses: Utilize Mitek and Alpine software to create accurate, cost-effective truss designs for residential and commercial projects.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the sales, engineering, and production teams to ensure designs meet project needs and timelines.
- Review Plans: Analyze blueprints, engineering documents, and client specifications to generate truss designs that comply with all necessary codes and regulations.
- Customer Support: Provide design assistance to customers, answer technical questions, and help with any design revisions or adjustments.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs are optimized for structural integrity, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability.
- Documentation: Maintain clear, accurate records of design specifications, modifications, and approvals for each project.
- Stay Updated: Keep up-to-date with industry trends, building codes, and software updates to ensure designs meet the latest standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a truss designer, preferably with a background in the building materials or lumber industry.
- Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Mitek and Alpine software for truss design. Experience with other design tools is a plus.
- Education: A degree or certification in structural engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of truss design principles, load analysis, building codes, and construction methods.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to produce accurate, high-quality designs under tight deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex design challenges and propose innovative solutions.
