Triumph Foods also holds a 50 percent partnership in Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa, a primary pork processing plant.
Position Overview & Responsibilities:
The position of Maintenance Technician has immediate responsibility for the service, maintenance and upkeep of Company Commercial Fleet Vehicles and Equipment. This position must maintain complete timely and accurate records on all maintenance performed.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Diagnose any mechanical, electrical, or other breakdown or failure of a motor vehicle or related equipment.
- Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of the component parts and systems on the truck-tractor, or the component parts and systems of a cargo tank (feed) semi-trailers.
- Inspect, repair, and perform routine maintenance on Company vehicle fleet, including component parts.
- Make proper use of both power and hand tools to repair or replace defective components of Company fleet and other equipment.
- When applicable, use welding skills and knowledge of metals to complete vehicle repairs.
- Prepare and maintain maintenance records in accordance with Company policies, and state and federal regulations.
- Ability to write, read and speak English.
- Make entries on reports and record entries on maintenance records to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Read reports, technical manuals, and other documents to keep abreast of changes in Company fleet, including all component parts.
- Converse with co-workers and properly communicate with others.
- Provide a safe work environment for co-workers at all times.
- Assure that the cargo tank entry procedures are followed at all times.
- Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly
- Must be able to follow diagnostic trouble charts, hydraulic schematics, use standard automotive tools, electronic diagnostic equipment, hydraulic pressure gauges, and flow meters.
- Uses various cutting and welding equipment.
- Input data into fleet tracking software is critical.
- Mechanics must utilize a computer to input work orders, time and related computer tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
- Maintain stock shop supply inventories, placing orders and verifying receipt of orders.
- Perform other duties as required or designated by supervisor.
Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma required, some college preferred.
- 3 or more years of vehicle maintenance knowledge required which could include time in trade school for entry-level applicants.
- Computer skills for the input of data into the fleet maintenance tracking database.
- Welding experience is preferred.
- The employee must have experience with Heavy Duty commercial vehicles.
- Candidate must possess a DOT-certification or have the willingness to obtain DOT certification upon hire in order to perform commercial DOT inspections of equipment.
- Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) required. Candidates without a CDL may apply but must demonstrate a willingness to obtain a CDL if offered the position. CDL training assistance would be provided.
