About the Job
Adams & Martin Group has teamed up with a Defense Law Firm specializing in medical malpractice. We are currently seeking a Trial Legal Secretary with an outstanding resume. This exciting opportunity includes the flexibility of three work-from-home days per week.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience is essential.
- Proficiency in trial practices is a must.
- Ability to support heavy trial litigators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain attorney(s) calendar book and tickler system.
- Schedule meetings with clients, experts, attorneys, and co-counsel, including court appearances.
- Review and re-index mail in OnBase for attorney review and action, ensuring timely calendaring.
- Compose correspondence and memos, facilitating information exchange.
- Contact clients to obtain necessary information as requested by attorneys.
- Maintain electronic confidential legal files, ensuring thorough organization and documentation of activity.
- Prepare discovery, pre-trial, and trial documents for court filing.
- Schedule, calendar, and coordinate all aspects of discovery initiated by plaintiffs and defendants.
- Provide legal secretarial support on short or long-term assignments.
- Answer and screen telephone calls, maintaining professional communication standards.
- Transcribe dictation and/or type from handwritten material or rough drafts, including litigation-related correspondence.
- Assist and provide backup for other secretaries as needed.
- Maintain current knowledge of court rules and procedures.
- Participate in department and company projects.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 7 years of defense trial and litigation experience in a similar industry.
- 3 years of recent California Civil litigation experience.
- Trial preparation experience is essential.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of court procedures.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
- Proficient in MS Word; familiarity with case management software; typing speed of 70+ wpm.
Salary Range:
$85,000 - $92,000/year
