The Traveling Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing on-site field operations for construction projects across the Eastern U.S. This role ensures timely project completion, adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and effective subcontractor coordination. Projects range from $500,000 to $30 million and may include public parks, sports fields, highways, water, sewer, and storm systems.

- Project Leadership:
- Oversee day-to-day construction activities, managing crews, subcontractors, schedules, and resources to meet project milestones.
- Act as the primary on-site liaison, working with project managers, clients, engineers, and vendors to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Maintain detailed daily logs, including reporting progress, resource allocation, and any issues or deviations.
- Implement and enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements through regular safety meetings and site inspections.
- Quality and Compliance:
- Review plans, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure all work meets project requirements.
- Inspect materials and workmanship regularly to ensure high-quality standards and compliance with codes and specifications.
- Proactively address design or construction issues, submitting RFIs and managing change orders as necessary.
- Scheduling and Coordination:
- Develop and maintain detailed short-term schedules to ensure work progresses on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely material delivery to avoid project delays.
- Schedule and supervise subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project schedules and scope of work.
- Cost Management:
- Monitor project expenditures, labor hours, and resource allocation to identify variances and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the project manager to evaluate job costs and ensure profitability goals are met.
- Team Management:
- Supervise, train, and mentor field staff, including laborers and foremen.
- Conduct team performance evaluations, address concerns, and foster a positive work culture.
- 5+ years of experience in Construction Management.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects ($500K-$30M) in civil construction, public works, and infrastructure.
- Must have a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
- Willingness to travel 100% of the time throughout the Eastern United States.
- OSHA-10 Certification (required); SWPPP credentials preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Expertise in managing teams, subcontractors, and field operations across multiple trades.
- Proficiency in project management software (Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to solve problems proactively.
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, kneeling, standing, and performing duties in varying outdoor conditions.
- Competitive Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 per year
- Weekly Per Diem: $650 for meals and travel expenses while on-site.
